 Formal democracy, as many Latin American societies that went through years and years of right-wing authoritarianism learned, is not a panacea, but it is not something minor. In other words: we need formal democracy to build substantial democracy. It's no small thing. It is precisely for this reason that it is convenient to defend these values ​​when they are in force in our democracies. And defending them implies, bitter as it may be, also securing them for those who (we have good reason to think) could endanger them. That's what it's about and that's why it's difficult.

Precisely because we do not take these values ​​just as Phone Number List instrument, but as a basis for action and collective construction in pursuit of equality, inclusion and life in common.
